Principle of Light
- Light always travels in a straight line
- When light hits an object / surface it:
- - reflects (smooth and shiny surface)
- - Refracts (smooth and transparent)
- - Passes through / penetrates (clear and transparent)
Rough surface
Light will be distorted when it hits a rough surface
In the situation where the surface is smooth and shiny
Angle of incidence = Angle of reflection
Angle of incidence = Angle of reflection
Why objects in water look closer than they are.
Objects appear closer in water due to light reflection caused by the different density in air and water (water is denser than air). As a result the image appears to be closer and shallower than the actual object.
